Propria noastră minte ne este cel mai aprig adversar. Încercăm să ne concentrăm, dar mintea noastră o ia razna. Încercăm să rămânem atenţi în momentele dificile, însă anxietatea ne împiedică să dormim noaptea. Încercăm să fim buni cu cei pe care îi iubim, dar apoi uităm şi ne punem iarăşi pe noi în prim-plan. Iar atunci când vrem să ne schimbăm viaţa ne afundăm într-o practică spirituală şi aşteptăm rezultate imediat, doar pentru a pierde concentrarea odată ce luna de miere se sfârşeşte. Ne reîntoarcem la starea noastră de mărginire. Suntem din nou neputincioşi şi descurajaţi.</p>
<p>Se pare că acceptăm cu toţii că formarea corpului prin exerciţii, diete şi relaxare este o idee bună, dar oare de ce nu ne gândim şi la formarea minţii noastre? A lucra cu mintea şi stările noastre emoţionale ne poate ajuta în desfăşurarea activităţilor în care suntem angajaţi, fie că este vorba de sport, afaceri sau învăţare &#8211; sau de o cale religioasă.</p>
<p>Cred că putem crea un fel de legătură sinergică cu propria noastră minte. În meditaţia <strong>shamatha</strong> &#8211; &#8220;sălăşuirea în linişte&#8221; &#8211; ne pregătim minţile întru stabilitate, claritate şi putere. Prin acestă formă elementară de meditaţie în poziţie aşezat descoperim că putem rămâne în linişte. Cunoaşterea liniştii noastre naturale este baza oricărei căi spirituale &#8211; începutul şi temeiul pentru oricine este destul de curajos pentru a căuta adevărata fericire. Cu toţii avem potenţialul de a ne trezi din somnul ignoranţei în adevărul realităţii.</p>
<p>Despre acesta este vorba când discutăm despre <strong>minte şi meditaţie</strong>. Cu cât înţelegem mai multe despre noi înşine şi despre cum funcţionează mintea noastră, cu atâta mintea noastră poate lucra. Modul de a realiza acest lucru &#8211; atât ca indivizi cât şi ca oameni aparţinând unei culturi în care atingerea confortului personal pare uneori să reprezinte standardul cel mai ridicat &#8211; este de a înmuia inimile, minţile, vieţile noastre. Adevărata fericire ne stă întotdeauna la dispoziţie, trebuie însă mai întâi să creăm mediul în care ea va înflori.</p>
<p>O societate de minţi greoaie şi inflexibile este o societate incapabilă să aibă grijă de florile dragostei şi compasiunii. Aceasta este sursa unui epoci întunecate. Există tendinţa de a pune sub semnul întrebării bunătatea şi înţelepciunea noastră. Când punem sub semnul întrebării aceste lucruri începem să folosim căi care par mult mai convenabile pentru tratarea problemelor noastre. Suntem mult mai puţin dispuşi să folosim dragostea şi compasiunea şi mult mai pregătiţi să utilizăm agresiunea. Aşa că trebuie ne reamintim în permanenţă nouă înşine despre bunătatea fundamentală.</p>
<p>Chiar şi atunci când mintea mărginită nu este încă formată, ea meditează deja, fie că ştim acest lucru sau nu. Meditaţia este procesul natural de a deveni familiar cu un obiect prin îndreptarea minţilor noastre asupra lui. Orice am face, întotdeauna avem ceva în vedere; întotdeauna ne îndreptăm mintea spre un obiect sau altul. De exemplu, când ne trezim dimineaţa şi suntem îngrijoraţi de ceva, îngrijorarea devine ceea ce avem în vedere pentru acea zi: &#8220;<em>Şi cu mine cum rămâne? Când voi obţine ceea ce vreau?</em>&#8221; Obiectul meditaţiei noastre este &#8220;eul&#8221;.</p>
<p>Prin sălăşuirea în linişte ne întemeiem mintea în momentul prezent. Ne aşezăm mintea asupra respiraţiei şi practicăm menţinerea ei acolo. Băgăm de seamă când gândurile şi emoţiile ne distrag şi ne pregătim să ne reîntoarcem încontinuu mintea asupra respiraţiei. Astfel nu mai urmăm o minte mărginită care îşi produce propria sa suferinţă ci o minte stabilă, clară şi puternică. Învăţând să ne odihnim în propria noastră pace proclamăm dorinţa noastră de a descoperi această minte a stabilităţii, clarităţii şi puterii.</p>
<p>Transformarea minţii într-un aliat înseamnă a învăţa să ne vedem aşa cum suntem. De obicei nu putem face faţă bucuriei naturale a minţii noastre, aşa că stârnim emoţii intense. Prin sălăşuirea în linişte începem să vedem cum lucrează mintea noastră.</p>
<p>&#8220;<em>Sălăşuirea în linişte</em>&#8221; descrie mintea aşa cum este ea în mod natural. Cuvântul linişte arată despre ceea ce este vorba. Mintea omenească este din fire voioasă, calmă şi foarte clară. În meditaţia shamatha nu creăm o stare de linişte &#8211; ci permitem minţii noastre să fie aşa cum este de la început. Aceasta nu înseamnă că ignorăm în linişte lucrurile. Înseamnă că mintea este capabilă să fie în ea însăşi fără a mai pleca în mod constant.</p>
<p>Fiinţele umane nu sunt intrinsec agresive; suntem inerent liniştiţi. Aceasta este uneori greu de crezut. Atunci când suntem furioşi sau necăjiţi, mintea noastră nepregătită devine bătăioasă şi în mod obişnuit sărim la ceilalţi. Ne imaginăm că reacţionând agresiv faţă de obiectul emoţiei noastre ne vom rezolva durerea. De-a lungul istoriei am folosit această abordare de nenumărate ori. Atacând atunci când suferim este în mod clar o cale de perpetuare a stării noastre mizere. Cu o minte pregătită, cu o minte stabilă, o minte cu o motivaţie mult mai largă decât propriul său confort găsim alte căi de a face faţă dificultăţilor vieţii zilnice. Când suntem într-o situaţie dificilă ne menţinem locul. În loc să perpetuăm starea mizeră prin exprimarea agresiunii învăţăm să folosim trăirile brute pentru a găsi curajul de a continua călătoria noastră. Putem fi chiar capabili să transformăm mintea plină de mânie în energia dragostei şi compasiunii.</p>
<p>Dar mai întâi trebuie să învăţăm să sălăşuim în linişte. Dacă putem să ne amintim înţelesul cuvântului shamatha putem întotdeauna să-l folosim drept punct de referinţă. Putem spune &#8220;<em>Ce este meditaţia asta pe care o fac? Este sălăşuire în calm, în linişte</em>&#8220;. În acelaşi timp începem să vedem că mintea noastră întotdeauna sălăşuieşte undeva &#8211; nu neapărat în starea ei naturală de linişte. Poate că sălăşuieşte în iritare, furie, invidie. A vedea toate acestea este începutul destrămării mărginirii noastre.</p>
<p>Suntem obişnuiţi să ducem o viaţă în care fugim după mintea noastră sălbatică, o minte care dă naştere în mod continuu la gânduri şi emoţii &#8211; de fapt, a face din mintea noastră un aliat înseamnă că putem începe să le direcţionăm în beneficiul nostru. Prin sălăşuirea în linişte începem să vedem cum lucrează emoţiile noastre. Începem să vedem că trebuie să lucrăm cu aceste emoţii intense deoarece dacă nu vom face aceasta vor spori. Odată ce cresc, acţionăm asupra lor. Când acţionăm asupra lor, ele crează mediul nostru.</p>
<p>După ce am petrecut ceva timp privind gândurile şi emoţiile care vin şi dispar, începem să le vedem cu claritate. Ele nu mai au puterea de a ne destabiliza, deoarece vedem cât de efemere sunt. Abia atunci putem începe să modificăm tiparele noastre şi, făcând aceasta, să schimbăm întregul nostru mediu. Însă pentru a putea culege aceste roade este necesară o practică consistentă.</p>
<p>Odată ce stabilim <strong>o practică regulată</strong> putem simţi că viaţa noastră este pe cale să treacă printr-o prefacere majoră. Meditând este un nou mod de a privi lucrurile. Trebuie să fim dispuşi să ne schimbăm. Când începem să domolim mişcarea minţii noastre acest lucru va afecta totul.</p>
<p>Noţiunea de <a href="http://invisiblelibrary.wordpress.com/category/meditacio/"><strong>meditaţie</strong> </a>este foarte simplă. Încetinim şi începem să privim tiparele vieţii noastre. Trebuie să începem cu mintea, apoi urmează corpul. Aceasta nu vrea să spună că odată ce am început să medităm totul va funcţiona perfect şi nu vom mai avea probleme. Vom mai avea dispute cu prietenii şi cu familia, vom mai primi amenzi, vom mai pierde trenuri sau avioane, vom mai arde pâinea din când în când. <a href="http://invisiblelibrary.wordpress.com/category/meditacio/"><strong>Meditaţia</strong> </a>nu ne va duce la capătul curcubeului &#8211; ea ne deschide posibilitatea concretizării complete a însuşirilor noastre iluminate făcând din mintea noastră un aliat. Când medităm, ne pregătim pentru a putea vedea punctele noastre slabe şi să le întărim cele pozitive. Ne alterăm percepţia noastră de bază. Începem să schimbăm legăturile noastre cu lumea &#8211; însă nu cu forţa.</p>
<p>Dacă avem destule gânduri asemănătoare, le denumim flux de conştiinţă, un flux de gânduri. Cu toate acestea, curentul minţii este întotdeauna fluctuant. Mintea ţese o iluzie de soliditate punând lucrurile laolaltă; de fapt ea se mişcă înainte şi înapoi. La începutul sălăşuirii în linişte descoperim ceea ce este mintea trăgând-o înăuntru. Facem acest lucru stând liniştiţi şi învăţând să o menţinem pe ceva mai mult de câteva secunde. Aducerea ei repetată pe respiraţie poate părea la început nenaturală, ca şi cum am împiedica un copil să se mişte. Însă dacă continuăm să o facem, într-un anumit punct începem să vedem că dincolo de distracţie şi mărginire se întâmplă ceva. Începem să vedem tăcerea care se află la baza minţii. Este inteligenţă; este un fel de stabilitate; este un fel de putere. Începem să vedem cum discursivitatea gândurilor şi a emoţiilor ne ţin deoparte de experimentarea acestor însuşiri naturale ale minţii.</p>
<p>Învăţând să fii prezent pentru moment este începutul căii spirituale. Stând nemişcat şi pregătindu-ne mintea să rămână cu respiraţia începem să ne relaxăm discursivitatea. Vedem cum mintea crează simţul nostru solid al unui sine şi începem să descoperim starea naturală de a fi a minţii. Cu această experienţă putem să ne cultivăm grădina. Florile dragostei, compasiunii şi înţelepciunii se răspândesc iar buruienile furiei, invidiei şi auto-implicării au din ce în ce mai puţin spaţiu pentru a creşte. În sălăşuirea calmă devenim familiari cu temeiul bunătăţii fundamentale. Acesta este modul în care transformăm mintea într-un aliat.</p>
